Britney Spears' hyped two-episode appearance on How I Met Your Mother didn't catch the eye of Emmy voters, who left her off their list of semifinalists for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, per the latest round of Emmy scoopage from the L.A. Times' Gold Derby blog.

Haysbert: Prez Role On '24' May Have Helped Obama
Dennis Haysbert likes to believe his portrayal as the first African-American U.S. president on Fox's "24" may have helped pave the way for Barack Obama.
"If anything, my portrayal of David Palmer, I think, may have helped open the eyes of the American people," said the actor, who has contributed $2,300 to the Illinois Democrat's presidential campaign.

'Teenager' Sets Record For ABC Family
"7th Heaven" creator Brenda Hampton's new teen pregnancy drama "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" set a ratings record for ABC Family.
The drama, revolving around a good girl who gets knocked up by the school stud during her first sexual encounter, was seen by 2.8 million viewers Tuesday, making it the most-watched series premiere ever for the cable channel.
"Teenager" was also the highest-rated premiere among several key demos, including adults 18 to 49, and conquered its time slot. 'Idol' Finalist Kristy Lee Cook Signs With Record Label
Recent "American Idol" finalist Kristy Lee Cook has signed a contract with 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville, home of the talent show's 2005 winner Carrie Underwood.
Cook, who made it the top seven of this year's installment, has been preparing for the annual American Idols Live! tour, which began Tuesday in Glendale, Ariz.
The 24-year-old Oregon resident will team with songwriter/producer Brett James (Jessica Simpson) to record her album between tour dates, with a release expected this fall. Her first single, "15 Minutes of Shame," will go to country radio in August.
